While we often say, “Age is Just a Number” there are some numbers that we really need to keep track of – blood pressure and other vital signs, for example. We know that going to the doctor’s office just to get a blood pressure check can be quite a stressful and exhausting experience for many of our clients, so we have brought the clinic to the client!
Wellness Centers are held every week at Parkway Gardens and the Elders Lodge where volunteer nurses and nursing students visit with the clients. Vitals are checked, recorded and safely stored in a secure location until the next time the client visits the center. Please note that these services are only available to residents of Parkway Gardens and the Elders Lodge.
Clients who attend the Wellness Centers regularly can monitor their own health, and the nurses can be alerted to any changes in readings, or if a client seems unusually depressed or upset. Our volunteers can also recognize any signs of abuse or neglect and can help the client find the resources they need.
