Kala joined the East Side Elders (formerly Dayton’s Bluff Seniors) team in February of 2016. She brings both a passion for volunteerism and experience in volunteer management gained from her internships with the Minnesota Literacy Council and Community Action Partnership of Ramsey and Washington Counties. Recently, she completed her BS in Communication from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Kala has also completed the Volunteer Impact Leadership Training Series through the Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration. In her role as Volunteer Coordinator, Kala looks forward to growing and supporting the dedicated team of volunteers at East Side Elders.
It is Kala’s belief that volunteerism is an important aspect of building and sustaining healthy communities. She notes that people giving time to increase the well-being of others in the community benefits both the volunteer and the people who are served.
She lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota with her husband and their cat, Ritz. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, knitting, sewing, and cooking.
